A friend of mines listened to the beat and suggested I attempt an uplifting song. Something to motivate people with a message of hope…and this is what I came up with.

Unfortunately, the version you hear is not a perfect representation of the vision I had for this song. Also, it should be noted that I lost the original recording and had to piece it back together from a broken up temp file. Some stuff is missing :(

The other day my brother told he was feeling down
He said the worlds against him and it keeps him with a frown
Instead of giving options all it does is gives him pounds
Of an illicit substance and a coupla cartridge rounds

His daughter wants or needs it and he wants to make her proud
Proud to call him daddy so he does what he knows how
He knows the consequences if he fails or falls or bows
